Michele is available to serve as a mentor for students of herbal medicine and Chinese medicine. She also serves as a mentor for the American Herbalists Guild (AHG) Mentorship Program, which helps prepare students to apply for professional membership. (For more information about the AHG mentorship program, click here. It is not necessary to be preparing for AHG membership in order to work with Michele.
Mentoring with Michele is a collaborative process. Each mentee is asked to create a goals and timeline document before beginning — a living document that guides the work together and is revisited over time. Sessions are fluid and responsive to your needs, typically 1–1.5 hours, scheduled as often as feels supportive (weekly to monthly).
Topics that can be addressed in mentoring include:
-
Reviewing and providing feedback on client cases (Michele will also provide examples from her own practice for discussion)
-
Formula construction and refinement — learning how to build balanced, effective formulas that reflect the whole person, not just symptoms
-
Setting up and maintaining an herbal apothecary (raw herbs, concentrated extracts, and patents/pills)
-
Developing and sustaining your herbal practice business (inventory, bookkeeping, websites, etc.)
-
Building healthy and sustainable client relationships
-
Chinese medicine differential diagnosis
-
Chinese and Western herbal materia medica
-
Integrating Daoist practices into herbal work — how meditation, qigong, and inner alchemy can deepen your presence and clinical understanding
-
Qigong and Medical Qigong, and how to use these modalities within an herbal practice
-
Self-care practices for maintaining health and personal boundaries as a healer
-
The emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of healing, and working with clients in a multidimensional way
